The Pendo alternative that shows you what users ran into

Keep your Pendo snippet, and get product analytics and session replay that find where users get stuck, count how many people it hit and measure the release that fixes it.

Add one dataHost option to your pendo.initialize call.

01

Why teams choose Sequential over Pendo

  • See what users ran into. Cases come from fixed rules over your events and replays: exceptions, failed requests, dead clicks, rage clicks and dead ends. Sequential counts exactly how many people hit each one.
  • The replay behind each drop. Funnels count people through steps in order. Click a drop to see who left, and play their sessions from the moment they left.
  • Know which session to watch. Evidence ranks your judged sessions by how much they need a look. Sessions that broke for the person come first, then sessions where the person struggled.
  • Pendo accounts fill Workbench › Accounts. Pendo's visitor and account metadata keep working. Pendo's account fills Workbench › Accounts, with the accounts that have problems first.
  • Keep your Pendo snippet. Register your Pendo apiKey in Sequential and add one dataHost option to the pendo.initialize call that you already have.
  • A check after the release that fixes a problem. Record the release and name the case that it fixes. Sequential then counts the same problem before and after that release. It states what changed, for example Improved or Fixed.

What replaces what

Pendo features and their Sequential equivalents
You use in PendoIn Sequential
Pendo AnalyticsFunnels, flows and retention count people, not events, and each funnel drop opens the sessions of the people who left.
Session ReplayRanked replays with the judge's reading for each judged session that tells you what the person came to do, how the session ended and where they struggled.
Session Replay frustration signals (rage clicks, U-turns)Cases group rage clicks, dead clicks, dead ends, exceptions and failed requests across sessions and count exactly how many people hit each one.
Session Replay privacy modesStrict masking is the default for new projects: the device masks all text and every input while it records, and Sequential's servers scrub each recording again.
LeoAsk takes one plain sentence and lists the sessions that likely show it, strongest first.
Pendo MCP serverConnect your coding agent over MCP. A new token starts with read access and Ask. The path /mcp/readonly does not list the tools that change data, with one exception: getting a fix brief marks the case as handed off.
pendo.initialize visitor and accountSequential stores visitor and account metadata as user and account properties, and Pendo's account fills Workbench › Accounts.

Keep your Pendo tracking

The Pendo install guide says what each part of the Pendo agent does when it sends to Sequential. Read it before you switch.

  1. Register your apiKey

    In Sequential, open Settings, Setup, Pendo, and register the apiKey from your Pendo snippet.

  2. Add dataHost

    Add one option, dataHost, to the pendo.initialize call that you already have. Keep everything else.

  3. Add the recorder line

    For web replay, add the recorder line. The recorder links the replay to your Pendo events through window.pendo, so your events show under the replay, in time order.

  4. Check that events arrive

    Your project's Setup page shows a Pendo line with "receiving" when the first event arrives.

Your existing Pendo initialize call with dataHost, plus the recorder line

pendo.initialize({
  dataHost: 'https://YOUR_SEQUENTIAL_API_HOST', // add this line; keep everything else
  visitor: { id: '…' },
  account: { id: '…' }
});
<script src="https://YOUR_SEQUENTIAL_API_HOST/rec/recorder.js/YOUR_REPLAY_INGEST_KEY"></script>

Your coding agent can do the install. Copy one prompt into your coding agent. It adds Sequential to the analytics you already run, runs your build and tests, and lists every file it changed. You read the diff.

04

What you get on top

  • Connect your coding agent. Ask in plain words, and your agent gets the problem, how many people had it and the replays. Your agent files the ticket and opens the pull request in your tools, with only the access that you give it. You review and merge.
  • Release check. Record the release that ships a fix with one call from your deploy. The case shows both rates, for example "Before 2026.10.09: 123 of 300 (41%) sessions hit it. After: 10 of 82 (12.2%)."
  • Your Questions. You write the questions that Sequential asks about each judged session, such as "Did they send an invite?". You get answers in the words of your product.
  • DevTools in each replay. Each web replay can show the console, network requests, JavaScript errors and page speed from the user's browser, in sync with playback.
  • Heatmaps. Heatmaps store clicks against the element that people clicked, so the heat stays on that element at any screen width and under privacy masking.
  • Changes. Changes is a timeline of what your company changed: releases, product changes, prices, campaigns and incidents. Sequential shows what happened near a change.
