The UXCam alternative that shows you what to fix
Sequential is session replay and product analytics in one product: it finds where your users get stuck, counts how many people it hit, and measures it again after the release that fixes it.

01
Why teams choose Sequential over UXCam
- Know which replay to open. Sequential ranks new sessions. In each judged replay, the judge's reading tells you what the person came to do, how the session ended and where they struggled.
- Evidence puts broken sessions first. Evidence ranks your judged sessions by how much they need a look: sessions that broke for the person first, then sessions where the person struggled, then the rest.
- Problems counted exactly. Cases for your website come from fixed rules over your events and replays. Sequential groups the same problem across sessions and counts exactly how many people hit it, every 15 minutes by default.
- A check after the release that fixes a problem. Record the release and name the case that it fixes. Sequential then counts the same problem before and after that release. It states what changed.
- Mobile and web in one player. PostHog's open-source iOS and Android SDKs send events and screen recordings to Sequential. Mobile replays play in the same player as web replays.
- Your coding agent gets the evidence. Connect Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or another MCP client. Your agent gets the problem, how many people had it and the replays.

What replaces what
| You use in UXCam | In Sequential |
|---|---|
| Session replay | Session replay for websites and for iOS and Android apps, in one player, with the judge's reading for each judged session that says where the person struggled. |
| Heatmaps | Website heatmaps that store clicks against the element, with separate Desktop, Tablet and Mobile maps, rage clicks and scroll depth. |
| Issue analytics | Cases for your website: exceptions, failed requests, dead clicks, rage clicks and dead ends, grouped and counted exactly every 15 minutes by default. |
| User journey analytics | Flows show the routes between steps, with loops and detours, and where people left. |
| Funnels | Funnels count people through steps in order, also across sessions, and play the sessions of the people who left from the moment they left. |
| Retention analytics | Retention shows who comes back on the days you choose, by day or by week. |
| Segments | Filters with AND, OR and NOT. Session searches are saved to the project so your team shares them. |
| Dashboards | The Brief, which fills itself from your data, up to the last 30 days: traffic, top pages, errors, frustrated clicks and sessions worth a look. |
| Tara | Ask: type one plain sentence, and Sequential lists the sessions that likely show it, strongest first. |
| UXCam MCP | Connect your coding agent over MCP with a token that covers one project and starts with read access and Ask. |

Switch from UXCam in a few steps
-
Create an account
Create an account in the hosted preview with your work email and a password. Setup has four steps: Organisation, Project, Install and Agent.
-
Point PostHog's mobile SDK at Sequential
Add PostHog's open-source mobile SDK with your project's PostHog ingest key and the Sequential API URL. If the app already uses PostHog, change apiKey and host in its existing setup call and add the replay options.
-
Recording is on
Recording is on by default for web, iOS and Android, so events and session replay both arrive. You choose the platforms in your project settings.
-
See the first events
Your project's Setup page shows a PostHog line with "receiving" when the first event arrives. Events usually show within about a minute.
import PostHog
let config = PostHogConfig(apiKey: "YOUR_POSTHOG_INGEST_KEY", host: "https://YOUR_SEQUENTIAL_API_HOST")
config.sessionReplay = true
config.sessionReplayConfig.screenshotMode = true // required for SwiftUI screens
PostHogSDK.shared.setup(config)val config = PostHogAndroidConfig(apiKey = "YOUR_POSTHOG_INGEST_KEY", host = "https://YOUR_SEQUENTIAL_API_HOST")
config.sessionReplay = true
config.sessionReplayConfig.screenshot = true // required for Jetpack Compose screens
PostHogAndroid.setup(this, config)For your website, sequential.js is one tag for analytics and session replay. Paste it once into your site's head. For Google Tag Manager, use the tag's Google Tag Manager (Custom HTML tag) version. Your coding agent can also do the install: copy one prompt into it, and it runs your build and tests and lists every file it changed. You read the diff.

What you get on top
- Connect your coding agent. Your agent sees only the tools that its token allows. A new token starts with read access and Ask. It does not change data, with one exception: getting a fix brief marks the case as handed off. Sequential finds, counts and measures, and your agent files the ticket and opens the pull request in your tools, with only the access that you give it.
- Release check. Record the release and name the case that it fixes. Sequential then counts the same problem before and after that release. It shows both rates, and the result reads, for example, Improved or Fixed.
- Ask. Type one plain sentence in Ask. The answer says how many of the sessions it read match. When there are more sessions, it says how many it read, out of how many.
- Your Questions. You write the questions that Sequential asks about each judged session, such as "Did they send an invite?". Start from twelve default questions. Owners and admins can reword, switch off or add questions, up to 24.
- A fix brief for each case. Every case comes with a fix brief: what users hit, where, the evidence, since when, and how Sequential checks the fix after the release.
- Changes. Changes is a timeline of releases, product changes, prices, campaigns and incidents. Sequential shows what happened near a change.

Questions people ask
Is Sequential a good alternative to UXCam?
Yes. Sequential gives you session replay, funnels, flows, retention and cases in one product. It also judges sessions with enough activity, ranks them in Evidence, and measures the same problem before and after the release.
How do I record my mobile app with Sequential?
Sequential takes events and screen recordings from PostHog's open-source iOS and Android SDKs. You set up that SDK once with your Sequential key and host, and your mobile replays play in the same player as your web replays.
Does Sequential have session replay, funnels and heatmaps?
Yes. Sequential has session replay for websites and mobile apps, funnels that count people across sessions, and website heatmaps that are on by default for every project that records its website.
Does Sequential work with mobile apps?
Yes. PostHog's open-source iOS and Android SDKs send events and screen recordings to Sequential. Mobile replays play in the same player as web replays.
How much does it cost?
Anyone can create an account in the hosted preview, and the hosted preview takes no payment.
How long does switching take?
You add PostHog's open-source mobile SDK with your Sequential key and host. Recording is on by default. Events usually show within about a minute.
